Lid only stays open for a limited amount of time. When clearing dishes that may take longer to dispose the contents of, the lid will close while I'm still in the process of clearing the dish. Their should be a sensor that acknowledges a hand or dish or something is still underneath the lid.\n\nHowever, I still like the product, it has great capacity and the open sensor works well. The garbage bag retainer is key also.

I bought this for my kitchen and just love it. The bag holder inside holds the bag tightly so nothing "escapes" into the can interior. The lid closes tightly so no odors escape. It opens within a second of nearing the sensor. There is an on/off switch on the back for easy bag changing. I think it is a very sanitary system, besides, it is just adorable!

I use this touchless trashcan in the kitchen. It holds a regular 13 gallon liner and contains odors exceptionally well. My only negative comment is that it doesn't seem to recognize glass or clear paper/plastic items and you have to twist your hand so that the beam can see your hand in order for it to open. The same is true with the auto closing mechanism. I will be scraping food off of a glass plate into the trash and the lid closes - I have to either turn off the auto open/close feature or keep waving my hand in front of it while trying to scrape the plate. But if you don't have clear dinnerware, this won't be a problem. Other than that, this item is fun, functional, and a real crowd pleaser/conversation piece when I have guests over.

We love this trashcan. I would never go back to a regular trashcan. I wish everyone had one of these, especially in office kitchens and bathrooms. No more touching yucky lids to open! I liked mine so much, I bought one for a friend for a housewarming gift. She was delighted by it. It really makes an unique gift. It is a nice looking, great trashcan. I can think of nothing negative to say about it.
